The Game
Miami (3-1) wraps up its three-game homestand when the Canes host No. 13/14 Michigan State as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge Wed., Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables.
The SeriesThis is the first meeting between Miami and Michigan State. 
The ACC/Big Ten ChallengeMiami is 1-4 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, picking up it’s win on Dec. 2, 2009, a 63-58 victory over Minnesota. The Canes are 1-1 at home and 0-3 on the road in the Challenge. Overall, the ACC is 44-18 on its home court while the Big Ten is 35-26. The ACC has won 10-13 Challenges played, and ACC teams have won 76 of the 131 (.580) Challenge games. Teams that lead at halftime are 94-35 in Challenge play and the ACC has won 21 games after trailing at halftime, the Big Ten 13. Teams that shoot 50 percent or better in Challenge play are 42-9.

Larranaga Familiar with Michigan StateDuring his unprecedented run to the Final Four with George Mason in 2006, Jim Larranaga defeated Michigan State 75-65 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Larranaga then led his team to wins over North Carolina, Wichita State and Connecticut before being defeated by Florida. 
Larranaga Seven Wins from 500Head coach Jim Larranaga is in his 29th season as a head coach, posting a 493-347 overall record. Entering the 2012-13 season, Coach L was tied for 20th on the list of winningest active Division-I head coaches. Currently 17 active D-I coaches have 500 wins. See complete list in bio on page seven of the notes. Larranaga’s 100th win came when Bowling Green defeated Kent State in 1991. His other milestone wins came while at George Mason. He 200th victory was vs. Northeastern in 1997, 300th was vs. East Carolina in 2003 and win No. 400 came against William & Mary in 2008. 
Home Court AdvantageMiami has shot better than 50 percent from the field in its three home games, hitting 52.5 percent against Stetson,  59.0 percent vs. Jacksonville and 51.9 percent against Detroit. Miami was consistent vs. Detroit hitting 14-27  shots (51.9 %) in both the first and second halves. The Canes have shot better than 60 percent in two home second halves, with 63.6 percent vs. SU and 62.5 percent vs. JU. 
Scott Returns to the Court vs. DetroitGuard Durand Scott made his senior season debut on Saturday against Detroit, after sitting out the first three outings of the year. His line was 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in 38 minutes. Miami declared Scott ineligible prior to March 9, 2012 game against FSU after findings of impermissible benefits in an NCAA investigation. Scott was reinstated on March 14, but had to serve a six-game withholding penalty, including the UM-FSU game in ACC Tournament, 2012 postseason, and three remaining withholding games at the start of the 2012-2013 season.
Three Canes Near Century MarkSenior Durand Scott played in his 100th career game on Nov. 24 against Detroit while classmates Julian Gamble (97) and Reggie Johnson (94) are all closing in on 100 games played at Miami. Scott leads the trio with 94 starts, followed by 64 from Johnson and 26 from Gamble. Miami’s record books are topped by 113 games started by Darius Rice (2000-04) and 130 games played by Brian Asbury (2005-09). 
Johnson Averaging a Double-DoubleSenior Reggie Johnson is averaging 11.7 points and 10.0 rebounds this season. He has pulled down double-digit rebounds in two  of the three games he has played, with 11 vs. Stetson, 10 at FGCU and nine vs. Detroit. 
Home Sweet HomeThe Hurricanes are 3-0 at the BankUnited Center in 2012-13 and are 110-47 overall in the  BUC. The Hurricanes have notched double-digit home wins at the BankUnited in five-straight seasons and eight times in nine full seasons calling the arena home.
