Murphy and Tsukamoto to Clay Court Classic
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Freshman Jack Murphy and sophomore HenriqueTsukamoto will be traveling this week to Sarasota, Fla., to represent the University of Miami as they compete in the 2012 Dick Vitale Lakewood Ranch Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic.
This year’s event will run from Fri., Nov. 9 to Sun., Nov. 11 at the Lakewood Ranch Athletic Center.
Despite not having played in over two weeks, Murphy and Tsukamoto look to continue building on their success and gain experience as they prepare for the start of the regular season.
Joining Miami will be Pepperdine, Duke, Oklahoma State, Arizona, University of South Florida, Princeton, Florida, Minnesota and Virginia. Not only will the fans see competitors from across the country, they will also be helping out with a great cause as a portion of the proceeds will benefit The V Foundation.
The Canes most recently played in the ITA Regional Championships in Tallahassee, Fla. Marco Stancati played his way into the semifinals while Gabriel Flores, Wilfredo Gonzalez, Diego Soto, Victor Mauz, Henrique Tsukamoto, and Omar Aly each picked up at least one victory over the weekend.
