Rowing Finishes Strong at Head of the Hooch
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.- The University of Miami rowing team finished up the final day at Head of theHooch with two boats finishing among the top 15 in the Open 8+ event on Sunday.The team brought home top-three finishes in three out of four events on theweekend.
“This was an excellent weekend for our team and a greatway to springboard into our winter training period,” head coach Andrew Cartersaid. “I think they’ve set an ideal tone for themselves and I’m very proud ofthe work they’ve done and the progress they’ve made.”
Miami’s “A” boat – led by coxswain Meghan Hamilton,Katalin Horvath, Breanna Hayton, Katie Guest, Maggie Fragel, Courtney Keller,Ally Whitty, Hannah Neilsen and Katie Stanzilis – finished second behind Louisville.The crew clocked in at a time 16:48.8, besting third-place Alabama by 23seconds.
The Canes’ second entry in the race – led by coxswainSophia Doughty, Nichole Zayan, Hannah Meister, Devon Phelan-Patton, HannahHawks, Dani Yuska, Roxy Meyer, Erin Ryan and Kelly O’Boyle – crossed the linein 13th position in the 43-crew field.
