How did you become aHurricanes fan?
“Ibecame a Hurricane fan when I was about seven or eight years old. My family had seasontickets to Tech games and I went to a ton of them growing up. I remember seeingthe Canes play for the first time and falling in love with everything aboutthem: their colors, cockiness, and the fact everyone hated them. It was allvery appealing to me, heck even Sebastian had an edge to him. Now 20 yearslater, I still bleed orange and green!
Do you find itdifficult supporting Miami all the way from Salem?
“Themost difficult thing is seeing the GREAT deals on tickets and being so far awayI can’t take advantage of them. Other than that, I’ve gotten used to thebravado of the Tech fans, they are very proud of their ACC championships, butstill have ZERO of what The U has FIVE of!”
Is there a place you visit to watch Hurricanes games in the city?
“I usually just watch the games from my house.”
Have you found any other Hurricanes fans in Salem?
“Yes,there is actually a decent-sized fan base here in the Roanoke Valley.”
How do you support the Hurricanes – Any apartmentdecorations? Favorite piece of Canes gear? Travel for games?
“Igo to the games every yearwithin driving distance. I will be at the Virginia and Duke games this yearsupporting The U.”
Any favorite memories or stories from your time as aHurricanes fan?
“Myfavorite Canes memories are getting EdReed’s arm sleeve at the 2001 Tech game, and of course the 2002 Rose Bowl! Ihope to watch the Canes win number six real soon!”
