No. 24 Volleyball Continues Road Trip

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Continuing a four-match roadtrip, No. 24 Miami volleyball will look to stay atop the Atlantic CoastConference standings this weekend with matches at Clemson and Georgia Tech. TheHurricanes have won their last six and 11 of the last 13 and appear in the AVCACoaches Poll for the first time this season.

Bothcontests will be broadcast with the Clemson match scheduled to be on ESPN3 onFriday at 6 p.m. Don Munson will handle the play-by-play. Sunday’s 1 p.m. matchat Georgia Tech will be carried on RSN, as Leah Secondo and Cecile Reynaud willhandle the commentary. “Everyteam is gunning for teams that are doing well and we know that we are going toget the best shot from Clemson and Georgia Tech this weekend,” head coachNicole Lantagne Welch said. “Clemson is a team that returns every singlestarter from a year ago and they are very experienced. We know that they play wellat home. Georgia Tech is also a veteran team with several key seniors. Theyhave some excellent players on the pin that can really take over. It is goingto be an exciting challenging this weekend.”

Mostrecently, the Hurricanes (16-3, 8-1) defeated Boston College, 3-2, andMaryland, 3-0, on the road. Sophomore Savanah Leaf had her best weekend of theseason with 29 kills in the two matches. The win over the Terrapins was the 100thcareer ACC victory for Lantagne Welch. The program is 10-5 all-time when playingas a ranked team.

Clemson(14-6, 5-4) has won its last four matches and holds a 9-1 mark at home insideJervey Gym this season. Sandra Adeleye leads the Tigers with 231 kills(3.50/set), while Hannah Brenner has 592 assists (9.40/set) as the setter. UMand CU split the season series last year, with each winning on their homecourt.

GeorgiaTech (15-5, 6-3) is a perfect 9-0 at home at the O’Keefe Gymnasium and has wonfour of its last five matches. Monique Mead has 278 kills (3.86/set) to pacethe offense, while Nicki Meyer has 241 digs (3.35/set) in the back row. GeorgiaTech was the last team to defeat the Canes at the Knight Sports Complex lastyear, but Miami avenged the loss later in the campaign at GT to split theseries.
