Laurente to Face No. 8 Seed at Amelia Island
AMELIAISLAND, Fla. – Miami freshmanKelsey Laurente advanced through the qualifying rounds of the Amelia IslandChampionships and will face eighth-seeded Alexis King in round one of the maindraw on Wednesday at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation.
The Hurricane newcomer breezed through hercompetition in the qualifying rounds, defeating Miranda Talbert and BrittanyLashway in straight sets.
Laurente is poised to face King, the world’s566th ranked player. Play is set to begin at 10 p.m. on Wednesdaywith the Laurente/King matchup scheduled as the third match of the day.
