Seven UM Volleyball Matches To Be Broadcast
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Between coverage on ESPNU, ESPN3 and RSN, the University ofMiami volleyball program will be broadcast seven times – more than any otherteam in the league – by the Atlantic Coast Conference’s media rights-holdersthis season. In addition, Canes All Access will provide a live stream of theremaining home matches.
UM is coming off a 26-5 season in2011 that included a second-place finish in the ACC standings and a third-straightbid to the NCAA Tournament. This year’s squad, under the leadership of 12th-yearhead coach Nicole Lantagne Welch, features four returning starters, with anincoming recruiting class ranked No. 27 in the nation according toPrepVolleyball.com.
One of the highlights of thebroadcast schedule is the match against rival Florida State on Friday, Sept. 7at 7:30 p.m. on ESPNU. It is a date and time change from the originallyreleased schedule.
Including the contest against theSeminoles, the ESPN family of networks will cover six UM contests that willalso be broadcast via ESPN3 with a simulcast on the WatchESPN mobile app. Thatincludes the season finale at FSU (Nov. 23) on ESPN3.
RSN will transmit the Canes’ matchat Georgia Tech on Oct. 21.
In total, 77 ACC fall Olympicsporting events will be covered for a count of 145 school appearances. That isthe highest number in history and more than double the previous high.
In addition to the two homematches being broadcast by the ACC rights-holders, Canes All Access willprovide a live stream of the remaining contests at the Knight Sports Complexthis season at HurricaneSports.com. All eight matches in the HurricaneInvitational will be covered.
