CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Miami will host the first and second rounds of the 2012 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship this weekend at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. Action gets underway with a pair of matches on Friday, May 11, with the regional championship match set to follow on Saturday, May 12.

The host Hurricanes earned a No. 10 national seed and will serve as the top seed in the regional. They will face No. 4 seed UNF on Friday at 1 p.m. Prior to that match, No. 2 seed Texas Tech and No. 3 seed Utah will square off at 10 a.m. The winner of each match will move to Saturday’s 1 p.m. regional final.

Miami (18-4) is an NCAA host for the eighth straight season. The Canes have advanced out of regional play and into the Sweet 16 each of the past six seasons. This year’s team, singles and doubles championships will be held in Athens, Ga. from May 17-28.

Friday’s match will mark the second meeting this season between UM and UNF (16-4), with the Canes winning the first meeting on March 3 (7-0). Texas Tech (19-5) and Utah (11-10) faced each other in Las Vegas, Nev. on Feb. 25, with the Utes upsetting the Red Raiders winning 4-3.
