It takes something special for any team to get to Omaha. One of the team’s co-captains, and the longest-tenured player on the Hurricanes roster, knows exactly what it takes. Each week, Eric Erickson will be checking in on the team’s progress to get back to college baseball’s promised land.

With that rough weekend in Tallahassee behind us, the focus is on a strong comeback during the remainder of the year.  I could go on and on about all the things that went wrong for us in Dick Houser Stadium, but that wouldn’t do any good.  The good thing is that we have about 14 games left in the season.

I’m pretty disappointed in myself for my performance last Friday, but I understand that I’m not going to be able to bring my best stuff to the mound every week.  I just wanted to beat the Seminoles so badly, and I hope I get another chance.  It’s very important to learn something every game and use it to your advantage for the next one.  It’s also important to have a short-term memory so you can move on and focus on things to improve on during the next game, and that’s where we are as a team right now.

The Miami vs. FSU series is over, and we’ve moved on and are now focusing on the games ahead of us.  The teams who get hot at the right time in college baseball are the teams that make miraculous finishes.  We believe in ourselves, we believe in all of the coaches and the entire program that surrounds us.

We’re doing everything in our power to win and that’s the best that we can do.  We’re completely capable of beating anyone in the country, so let’s hope the Hurricanes catch fire during this home stretch and get hot heading right into the postseason.
