Hill Does it Again
Senior All-American Devon Hill secured his fourth ACC Championship on Saturday after winning the 110-meter hurdles in 13.35 seconds. His time set a new ACC meet and conference record, school record, and facility record while currently ranking him second in the nation and among the top ten in the world.

Both Student-Athletes Named Williams Step Up for the Women
Tarika and Samantha Williams both had successful outings at the ACC Championships as both earned All-ACC accolades. Tarika Williams placed third in the 100 and 200 meters with season-best times of 11.42 and 23.68 respectively. Her 100-meter time was also a personal-best and is currently ranked 18th in the nation. Samantha Williams placed third in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 12.99 meters. That mark has her sitting at 12th in the nation.

Stewart Comes Close
Sophomore Thandi Stewart earned her second All-ACC honor after she placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in a very close race finishing in 57.46 seconds, just .13 seconds behind the winner. Her new personal-best time ranks her ninth in the nation.

Throwers Reel in the Points
Seniors Ashley Holmes and Miranda Wilson, along with freshman Amber Monroe brought in 14 points for the women’s team after Holmes finished fifth in the hammer throw, sixth in the shot put and eighth in the discus, Wilson finished seventh in the discus, and Monroe finished fifth in the discus.

Men’s and Women’s Relays Achieve Success
The men’s and women’s 4×100-meter relays as well as the women’s 4×400-meter relay all made their way onto the podium on Saturday. The women’s 4×100 relay of Jokira Jiles, Tarika Williams, Nicole Cummings and Alyssa McClure placed second while carrying the baton around the track in a season-best 44.96 seconds, and the 4×400 relay of Shannon Wright, Williams, Thandi Stewart and Jiles placed third with another season-best of 3:39.50. The men’s 4×100 relay of Jason Johnson, Devon Hill, Bassim El-Sabawi and Christian Cook placed third in 40.84 seconds. This was the men’s first podium finish in the 4×100 since 2006.

Olympic Hopefuls in Action in California and Florida
UM alumni Lauryn Williams, Dominque Darden and Takecia Jameson were all in action this past weekend as Williams ran at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California, while Darden and Jameson competed at the Tom Jones Invitational at the University of Florida. Williams and Darden came away with victories as Williams ran the 100 meters in 11.17 and Darden completed the 400-meter hurdles in 57.20. Jameson was also in the 400-meter hurdles at the Tom Jones meet, finishing fourth in 59.10. Williams is currently ranked third in the world at 100 meters, while Darden is ranked 14th in the world in the 400-meter hurdles. Although not in action this past weekend, fellow alumni Ti’erra Brown remained atop the world rankings in the 400-meter hurdles with her 54.88 performance from the Florida Relays on April 6th.

The Penn Relays
This weekend the Canes will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to compete at the 118th edition of the Penn Relays, the longest running track meet in the United States.
