Canes Place 12th at Rebel Intercollegiate

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team capped off the regular season with a 12th place finish at the BancorpSouth Rebel Intercollegiate at the Ole Miss Golf Course in Oxford, Miss.

Baylor’s Jaclyn Jansen (70-69-71—210) finished atop the individual standings, while Marita Engzelius (75-67-69—211) of Tulsa and Natalie Gleadall (69-71-74—214) of Ole Miss rounded out the top three.

Miami freshman Rika Park from Fujieda Shi-Shizouka, Japan, ended strong with a top-8 finish, showing signs of why she was heavily recruited out of Heritage Academy in Hilton Head Island, S.C. Park finished the tournament at 76-72-74—222 (+6), which is a great way to head into the ACC tournament (Greenboro, N.C. April 13-15).

“It’s going to be my first ACC tournament and I’m excited about it,” Park said. “I will stay focused and continue to play my game.”

Hurricane senior Jennifer Hirano from Pinole, Calif., (sister of Christina Hirano who also played golf for Miami), carded her best round on Sunday shooting three-over-par 75. Her round included two birdies on hole No. 2 and No. 10.

Next up for the Hurricanes is the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament April 13 thru the 15th. The championship will be played at the Sedgefi eld Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., a 6,163 yard par-71 course. The Canes will be paired up with North Carolina State and Boston College in the first round.
