Miami (8-9, 1-7) will try to earn its second ACC win and ninth win of the season on Sunday after a hard-fought loss on Friday against No. 21 North Carolina.

The Hurricanes effort was led by freshman Wilfredo Gonzalez and junior Marco Stancati against the Tar Heels. Each earned a point for the Hurricanes as they won their matches against UNC’s Esben Hess-Olesen and Oystein Steiro, respectively.

After losing the doubles point to North Carolina, Miami came back fighting as they took four-of-six matches to the third set for the first time since March 17 against Alabama, but they were unable to close the door.

Duke (17-3, 6-1) enters the ACC matchup against the Hurricanes on a four-match winning streak with wins over No. 26 Florida State, No. 51 Virginia Tech, No. 65 Georgia Tech and No. 66 Clemson.

The Blue Devils currently have three singles players ranked in the Top 110 and two doubles pairs ranked in the Top 30 in the nation. In singles play, Henrique Cunha is ranked No. 6, Chris Mengel is No. 26 and Torsten Wietoska is ranked No. 106. The pair of Cunha and Fred Saba is ranked No.6 in doubles. Cunha also pairs up with Mengel to also be ranked at No. 26.

Following Sunday’s match, the Hurricanes will travel to the state of Virginia for their final two regular season matches. They will take on No. 51 Virginia Tech on Fri., April 13 at 1 p.m. and No. 2 Virginia on Sun., April 15 at 11 a.m.
