CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 59 University of Miami men’s tennis team will travel to the University of Clemson this Sun., March 11. The match between the Hurricanes and Tigers will begin at 1 p.m. at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.

Miami (6-3, 0-2) heads to Clemson having won three of its last four matches. The Canes defeated a trio of Florida schools, North Florida, UCF and USF before falling to ACC rival No. 32 Florida State in a in the team’s last match.

Freshman Wilfredo Gonzalez earned the Canes lone point against Florida State as he defeated Christian Mendez 6-2, 1-6 and 7-6. Sophomore Gabriel Flores has also been playing well lately as he has won three of his last four singles matches.

Clemson (4-6, 1-0) defeated Georgia Tech 4-3 in its last match, but has been struggling of late. Before the win, the Tigers lost three straight matches to No. 19 Tennessee, No. 27 Auburn and Alabama.

The Tigers are led by No. 88 ranked Yannick Maden who has gone 7-1 from the No. 1 position during the spring season.

Following Sunday’s match, the Hurricanes will continue their road trip to Atlanta, Ga. against Georgia Tech on March 13 at 2:30 p.m. The team will then return home to the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on March 17 to take on Alabama.
