CORAL GABLES, Fla.- The 7-1 University of Miami women’s tennis team – ranked 12th in the nation – will take on Boston College in their third ACC matchup of the year, this Friday at 12 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

The Hurricanes will seek to remain undefeated in conference by improving their record to 3-0, but will face stiff competition from the 48th-ranked Eagles.

UM has been playing solid tennis lately, with all members of the squad contributing to wins against six ranked opponents so far on the season.  Most notably, the Canes have been benefitting tremendously from the play of 118th ranked Lina Lileikite.  The freshman was named co-ACC player of the week after standout performances against the University of North Florida and Clemson this past weekend.

Seniors Anna Bartenstein and Gabriela Mejia have continued to lead by example at the top of the lineup.  No. 12 Bartenstein, with a record of 8-2, has won her last five singles matches in straight sets. No. 25 Mejia, who had yet to lose a single set in singles prior to this past weekend’s matchup against Clemson, finally dropped her first match to No. 76 Keri Wong, but she has still a season record of 8-1.

Boston College is ranked No. 48 in the most recent ITA team rankings, with a record of 7-4.  The doubles play of Alex Kelleher and Olga Khmylev has been a bright spot for the Eagles as the duo is currently ranked No. 18 in doubles play.

In last year’s meeting between the two teams at the Flynn Recreation Complex in Chestnut Hill, Mass. the Hurricanes took home a 7-0 sweep of the Eagles.
