CORAL GABLES, Fla.- After a successful trip to Charlottesville for National Team Indoors, the No. 14 University of Miami women’s tennis team will return to the courts in Tallahassee, Fla. this Sunday to take on in-state rival Florida State.  The dual match will take place at 11 a.m. at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

The Canes are 4-1 on the year and are coming off an impressive showing at the Indoor Championships, where they took home wins against No. 15 Texas and No. 24 Mississippi.

Miami is led by its senior tandem of Anna Bartenstein, and Gabriela Mejia.   So far this year, No. 26 Mejia is undefeated in singles play at the second singles position. No. 13 Bartenstein is 5-2 at No. 1, with one of her losses coming at the hands of Mejia in a close 7-5, 7-6 match.  Sophomore Melissa Bolivar is 5-2 at the No. 4 position and fellow sophomore Brittany Dubins is 5-2 at No. 6.

Rounding out the roster are freshmen Lina Lileikite and Liat Zimmerman, who haven’t taken long to get accustomed to the level of competition in college.  This spring, Lileikite is undefeated at the No. 3 singles and Zimmerman is 5-2 at No. 5.

Coach Jennifer Hyde and her Seminole squad are currently ranked No. 22, sporting a 5-2 record on the year.  They are coming off a tough 4-3 loss against the University of South Florida, the same team the Canes beat to earn a spot at Indoors, on Feb. 24.  Although they took all three doubles matches, they subsequently dropped four of five singles matches to give the Bulls the victory.  A bright spot for Florida State has been freshman Leyla Erkan, who is 6-1 this spring, having been bounced around between the No. 2, 3, and 4 positions.
