Gameday: Miami vs. USF | Feb. 18 | Noon
Feb. 17, 2012
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 39 University of Miami men’s tennis team will host the No. 56 University of South Florida Bulls this Saturday, Feb. 18. The match will start at 12 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
Miami (3-2, 0-1) heads back to its home court after nearly a month of road matches and looks to rebound after being defeated by No. 36 Rice University in the team’s last match. In that match, the Canes got down early after losing the doubles matches. Diego Soto was one of the few bright spots for the team as he fought his way to the third set before losing in a tiebreaker.
Sophomore Omar Aly and freshman Wilfredo Gonzalez have been playing well together lately and they will look to continue that success against the Bulls. The pair recently took down the No. 25 ranked doubles pair of Jadon Phillips and Phil Anderson of New Mexico.
The Bulls,(0-5) riding a five-match losing streak, including losses against No. 2 Virginia, No. 16 Auburn and No. 32 Florida State, will reach the last leg of their road games before returning home against North Florida.
Lucas Marin-Salcedo has posted the best singles record for the Bulls this season with a record of 4-2 at a variety of positions. The next best singles record is 1-1 by Oliver Pramming.
Following Saturday’s match versus USF, the Hurricanes will host three consecutive home games against UCF on Fri., Feb. 24 at 2 p.m., North Florida on Sun., Feb. 26 at 10 a.m., and ACC foe No. 32 Florida State on Sun., March 4, at 3:30 p.m.
