CORAL GABLES, Fla.– The No. 31 University of Miami men’s tennis team will face its second straight team from Florida on Sunday, Jan. 22 as they take on Florida A&M at 1 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes enter the match after earning their first team win against the Florida Atlantic Owls on Thursday at home. The team won five of six singles matches and all three doubles matches.
Sophomore Gabriel Flores will look to continue his winning ways as he has won his last two singles matches. He has also won his last two doubles matches partnering with sophomore Diego Soto. Soto won his match against FAU in straight sets from the No. 5 position.
Omar Aly, also a sophomore, has seen some tough competition from the No. 2 position and is still trying to earn his first singles win of the spring season.
Freshman Henrique Tsukamoto has shown enormous talent through the team’s first four matches. Playing from the No. 3, he has won two matches so far against Texas Tech and FAU. Fellow freshman, Wilfredo Gonzalez, earned his second singles victory as a Cane against FAU.
In the No. 6 position, junior Victor Mauz has earned two wins in single play this spring. He was victorious against both Illinois and FAU.
