Miami Wins Four Against UCF in Orlando

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team took four out of five singles matches against UCF today as play concluded at the UCF Invitational in Orlando, Fla. Doubles play was cancelled due to weather.
The Hurricanes finished the tournament strong as the team had four people earn two victories.
Sophomores Diego Soto and Gabriel Flores defeated each of their opponents in straight sets. Flores won for the second-straight day as he beat UCF’s Francesc Aulina 6-2 and 6-4. Soto won 6-4 and 6-4 against Mario Samson for his second win of the tournament.
Miami’s other victories came from sophomore Omar Aly, who defeated Erik Brunskog 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, and freshman Victor Mauz, who defeated Juan Bolona 3-6, 6-1, 7-5. Both finished the weekend with two victories.
Senior Santiago Nieto was defeated 6-7, 5-7 and 6-1 by Matthew Gladstone.
Miami will play again next Friday at both the Sarasota Clay Court Invitational and the Ravenswood Winery Amelia Island Futures Championship. The team will split up with some members of the team traveling to each.
