CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The Monday Morning ProCanes report will weed through all the NFL highlights and news to bring you the information you care about the most… what the former University of Miami Hurricanes did during the week prior. Though veteran Hurricanes have dominated the reports each week in 2011, a Hurricanes rookie enjoyed a strong showing in his first career start – a sign that “the streak” is in good hands. With no touchdowns scored as the first set of games drew to a close, Kellen Winslow reeled in his second score of the year in the fourth quarter to officially stretch the Pro Canes touchdown streak to 148 consecutive regular season weeks. Pro Canes made an impact on both sides of the ball Sunday, with four Hurricanes standing out for their dominant performances.

Willis McGahee (Denver Broncos) – 20 carries, 163 yards, 2 touchdowns
Just two weeks after suffering a broken hand against the Miami Dolphins, running back Willis McGahee made his return to the Broncos offense with his most scintillating game of the season. McGahee, who recorded touchdowns on runs of 60 and 24 yards, paced a Broncos rushing attack that netted a combined 299 yards in a 38-24 win over the Oakland Raiders at the O.co Coliseum. The 163-yard performance, the most for McGahee since his 167-yard game against Oakland in 2009, was only the third game in his career where the veteran recorded over 150 rushing yards.

Frank Gore (San Francisco 49ers) – 19 carries, 107 yards
49ers running back Frank Gore has been a model of consistency in 2011, and in his team’s match-up with the Washington Redskins, he once again led the charge for San Francisco. Though he failed to score a touchdown in his team’s 19-11 victory, Gore became the first running back in franchise history with five straight 100-yard games with his 107-yard performance. As he closes in on the franchise mark for career rushing yards, Gore finds himself in third place in both rushing attempts (159) and rushing yards (782) among NFL running backs in 2011.

Leonard Hankerson (Washington Redskins) – 4 catches, 34 yards
The 2011 third-round pick was rewarded for his hard work in practice with his first career start in Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Hankerson, who left his mark at Miami with a dominant senior season (73 catches, 1156 yards, 13 touchdowns), enjoyed the best game of his career with four receptions, not including a two-point conversion catch that cut the 49ers lead to a single score late in the game. With another Pro Canes wide receiver (Santana Moss) out for the foreseeable future in Washington, Hankerson has worked his way into the team’s offensive plans and has become an important target going forward in 2011.

Calais Campbell (Arizona Cardinals) – 6 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 blocked field goal
The six-foot-eight Campbell, who recorded the fourth blocked field goal of his career at the end of regulation, keyed an Arizona defense that held the St. Louis Rams without a single touchdown in a 19-13 victory. Even after Campbell recorded three quarterback hits and totaled 1.5 sacks through four quarters, no play was bigger than his block of a 42-yard field goal attempt as time expired to keep the game tied at 13 points apiece. The fourth-year Campbell, blossoming into one of the top defensive ends in the NFL, now ranks fourth on the team in combined tackles (43) and leads the team in sacks (4.5).
