Miami Swimming & Diving Finishes Up at All Florida Invite

Gainesville, Fla. – The University of Miami picked up six Top 10 finishes Sunday to help the Hurricanes swimming and diving team finish fourth at the All Florida Invite inside the Stephen C. O’Connell Natatorium. The event was host by the University of Florida.

Miami got off to a solid start Sunday with junior Hannah Kling (Miami, Fla.) picking up an eighth place finish in the 200-yard backstroke on a time of 2:06.88. Senior Roxanne Meyer (Johannesburg, South Africa) took a first place finish in the B final of the event as she touched the wall in a time of 2:04.78.

UMiami senior Kelsi Hall (Yorktown, Ind.) took the top finish in the B final of the 100-yard freestyle with a finishing mark of 52.16. Celeste Degan (Hudson, Fla.) turned in a time of 54.28 and Hall amassed a time of 54.49.

Junior Sofia Johansson (Ramlösa, Sweden) earned the highest finish for the Canes as she registered a time of 2:20.44 and a sixth place in the 200-yard breaststroke. Junior Christine Anderson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) had a time of 2:28.32 in the race.

Freshman Lucy Worrall (Vicars Cross, England) posted an eighth place time of 2:06.42 in the 200-yard butterfly for UMiami. Meanwhile, junior Haley Nicholson (Pensacola, Fla.) finished the B final with a time of 2:12.51. Senior Erin Simpson (Lookout Mountain, Tenn.) was just behind Nicholson with a mark of 2:16.84.

The UM 400-yard freestyle relay team finished in sixth place as the Hurricanes had a time of 3:33.11 in the race.

The University of Florida finished as the winners of the All Florida Invite with a final team score of 1,074. Florida State was second with 911 points, followed by Florida Gulf Coast in third (594). The Hurricanes defeated teams from FAU, FIU, North Florida, Florida Southern and Nova Southeastern.

The next event for the Hurricanes will be in a dual meet at Houston on Oct. 21.
