Miami Welcomes 11th-Ranked Tar Heels to Cobb Stadium

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s soccer team will face 20-time NCAA National Champion and No. 11 North Carolina Sunday at Cobb Stadium. First-kick is set for 1 p.m.
Miami (7-3-1, 1-2-1 ACC) is coming off Thursday’s double-overtime tie with NC State. In that match, Tara Schwitter scored her fifth goal of the season on an 83rd-minute penalty kick to tie the game at one.
The Tar Heels sport a 7-2 record on the season – including 2-1 inside conference play – and defeated 10th-ranked Florida State, 2-0, in Tallahassee on Thursday. Ranee Premji leads UNC with four goals and three assists on the season, while eight players have scored multiple goals for the Tar Heels on the year.
Benefitting the UM Sylvester Cancer Center, the Canes will be raising funds and awareness for the fight against cancer. Admission will be reduced to $3 to encourage fans to donate towards the cause. The price of admission will also include free access to Miami’s volleyball match against Duke at 1:30 p.m.
The team will be wearing pink warm up shirts that will be signed and sold to fans. In addition, there will be silent auctions for memorabilia and team gear. Before the game, the Canes will host a moment of silence for the memory of those that have lost their fight against cancer and have a symbolic balloon release where fans can release pink balloons that have the names of loved ones and survivors that have had to endure this terrible disease.
Fans can also bring their ticket from the Bethune-Cookman football game and receive one dollar admission to both soccer and volleyball on Sunday.
