Arrington Leads Canes at Mountain Dew Invitational
Coral Gables, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country teams raced to fifth and seventh place finishes out of 17 and 19, respectively at the Mountain Dew Invitational at the University of Florida on Saturday morning.
“Today was a good test for both teams, said assistant cross country coach Damon Griffiths. “They competed hard, but we just didn’t have it against this field today.”
The men were once again paced by sophomores Luke Fontaine (32nd – 26:37.11) and Connor Adams (40th – 26:52.88) while junior Greg Kaczka (37th – 26:46.46) added to the points total. Sean Pezzulo (51st – 27:19.47), JaCee Jarnigan (56th – 27:26.75), Philip Wood (80th – 28:29.66), Matthew Wilson (95th – 29:11.86), and AJ Ricketts (102nd – 29:31.96) rounded out the group for the Canes.
For the women, Lindsi Arrington (17th – 18:21.07) led the squad with another solid performance, followed by fellow sophomore Brooke Dovell (35th – 19:12.00).
“Lindsi ran a fantastic race today. She set a new personal best and had a top-20 finish in a very strong field,” said Griffiths.
Upperclassmen Allison Ludwick (56th – 19:46.97), Casey Crist (62nd – 20:00.38), and Jennifer Estime (96th – 20:55.65) rounded out the top five for the Canes.
