Canes to Compete in South Florida Cross Country Invitational

Sept. 8, 2011

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – After a strong showing at last weekend’s FGCU Invitational, the University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country teams are set for the 2011 South Florida Cross Country Invitational on Friday.

The race will be held on USF’s golf course, The Claw.

Sophomores Lindsi Arrington and Brooke Dovell look to continue Miami’s winning ways after helping the Canes claim victory in last weekend’s season opener. Arrington finished second overall in that race, while Dovell crossed the line right behind her in third place. Joining them in Tampa will be seniors Casey Crist and Jennifer Estime, junior Allison Ludwick, sophomore Cristina Brea, and freshmen Ally Finical and Julia Koch.

The men finished second last week, led by sophomore Luke Fontaine who placed third overall. Also running the 8K this Friday will be senior Matthew Wilson, junior Greg Kaczka, sophomores Connor Adams, Michael Coogan, JaCee Jarnigan, Sean Pezzulo and Phil Wood and freshmen Andre Miller and AJ Ricketts.

The Canes will go up against Tampa, Florida, Florida Southern, FIU, FAU, Embry Riddle, Nova Southeastern, USF, Webber, Saint Leo, and UCF, with the women are set to start at 6pm, followed by the men at 6:40pm.
