Miami Volleyball to be Televised Twice during 2011 Season

Aug. 5, 2011

Coral Gables, Fla. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced that the University of Miami will have two nationally-televised matches during the 2011 season, that coming from ACC Commissioner John Swofford on Friday morning. A total of nine volleyball matches featuring ACC teams are scheduled to be televised during the 2011 season.

ESPNU has announced that all of its Wednesday Night Women’s Volleyball broadcasts, now in its second year, will be broadcast in high definition. Two of the ACC’s matches will be featured on the program, including the Miami at Florida State match on September 14th and the North Carolina at Duke match in October.

Miami’s second televised matchup will come from inside the James L. Knight Sports Complex on October 30 against Virginia Tech. That match will be on Regional Sports Network (RSN).

Through an agreement with Raycom Sports and several sublicense agreements, the ACC’s regional syndication distribution (referred to as RSN), will include Fox Sport South, Fox Sports Florida and other regional cable partners throughout the ACC footprint to be announced later.

The conference as a whole will be looking to improve on one of its best years after finishing the 2010 season with a 108-39 (.739) out-of-conference record, the best in ACC history. The conference has sent a league-record five teams to the NCAA Volleyball Championship for two-straight years and has had a representative reach the regional final in both years as well, with Florida State advancing to the Round of 8 in 2009 and Duke repeating the feat in 2010.

The television schedule will feature volleyball matches on eight different campuses and include 10 of the conference’s 12 teams.
