Canes In the Pros: July Recap

Coral Gables, Fla. – The summer continues to be strong for the University of Miami Hurricanes on the professional level of Major League Baseball. Three former Canes were named to the MLB All-Star game in the form of Ryan Braun, Chris Perez and Gaby Sanchez. Additionally, Jemile Weeks and Jon Jay each had several defensive stops selected to ESPN’s Baseball Tonight on the “web gems” portion of the show.
All seven 2011 Hurricanes inked their professional contracts, including Zeke DeVoss signing with the Chicago Cubs organization. In his first week in the Cubs minor league system, DeVoss stole several bases and finished his rookie game just one steal shy of the league record for steals in a single game.
