Coral Gables, Fla. – University of Miami sophomore baseball player Cade Kreuter has been selected to play in the California Collegiate League (CCL) All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 13, at Casey Stengel Field in Glendale, Calif. The game will be shown live nation-wide on Fox Sports Net, and will be rebroadcast locally on the west coast multiple times in July and August.

Cade Kreuter, recently completing his sophomore season with the Hurricanes after transferring from the University of Southern California following his freshman year, has been tabbed as one of the CCL’s top 54 prospects. He will play with the CCL American Team, wearing a white jersey and an UMiami baseball cap.

The native of Newhall, Calif., and son of former MLB player and former USC baseball head coach Chad Kreuter, has eight hits (three doubles) and three RBI on the summer campaign for the Academy Barons. He has started 11 games for the Barons and carries a perfect fielding percentage defensively. Overall, he has played in 13 games to date.

During the 2011 season for the University of Miami Hurricanes, Kreuter batted .228 with 13 hits (four doubles / one home run), 9 RBI and seven runs scored in helping the Canes to their NCAA record 39th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance.

This will be the third CCL All-Star Game as the CCL Nationals took down the CCL Americans, 12-5, a year ago. In 2009, the CCL Americans won the inaugural game over the CCL Nationals, 14-6. Last year’s all-star game was delivered live to 64 million homes and was the only live sporting event on television during primetime hours (the MLB schedule is dark the day after the MLB All Star Game).

About the California Collegiate League
The California Collegiate League is a non-profit organization incorporated by seven non-profit amateur baseball organizations in the greater Southern California and Las Vegas areas dedicated to the development of student-athletes from across the country while providing inexpensive family-friendly entertainment to our home communities. The CCL organizes a 36-game championship season from June 1 through August 15 annually, and requires its players to use wood bats and professional-level baseballs to further their development as prospects. There are approximately 250 collegiate athletes participating in the league each year. In 2010, 48 percent of the athletes were Division I players, representing 19 Division I conferences and 53 Division I schools; 48 percent were Division II-III, NAIA and Junior College athletes; and four percent were undecided.
