CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Former University of Miami men’s tennis student-athlete Christian Blöcker has been named to the 2011 All-ACC Academic Men’s Tennis Team, as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford.

It is the third All-ACC Academic Team honor for Blöcker, who just wrapped up his senior season for the Hurricanes. In addition, he was recently named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team for the second consecutive season.

A double major in accounting and finance, Blöcker has posted a 4.0 grade point average in five-straight semesters and has an overall 3.94 GPA. He is a six-time member of both the Dean’s List and Provost’s Honor Roll and a five-time member President’s Honor Roll. Last semester, he was tapped into the ODK (Omicron Delta Kappa) Honor Society.

As a senior, Blöcker played at the No.1 and 2 singles positions and opened the fall ranked No. 72 in the country. He won five of his first seven matches during the spring in straight sets and finished with 13 wins for the Hurricanes. In doubles competition, he teamed with fellow senior Carl Sundberg, and the duo went 7-4 against ACC opponents and 8-3 in dual match play at No. 2. The Hurricanes have had at least one representative since the inaugural squad was selected six years ago. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career.
