Miami Hurdlers Set Sights on NCAA Championships

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Ti’erra Brown, Takecia Jameson and Devon Hill are set to compete in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

On Monday, the USTFCCCA named Brown the South Region Track Athlete of the season after winning her first ACC title. The five-time All-America honoree will open her final collegiate meet along with Jameson in the 400m hurdle semifinals Wednesday at 9:15 p.m. EST. Brown will run in the first of three heats while Jameson will compete in the second.

At the NCAA Preliminary Rounds, Jameson and Brown earned their trip to the semis with some of their best performances of the year. Jameson ran her season-best time in the event at 56.54 seconds, winning the first of three quarterfinal heats, while Brown circled the track in 56.67 seconds.

The senior duo will also race in the 100m hurdle semifinals on Thursday at 7:50 p.m. EST. Brown advanced to Des Moines with her 13.05-second quarterfinal time, while Jameson recorded her personal-best time of 13.28 seconds.

Immediately following the women’s race on Thursday will be the men’s high hurdles (8:10 p.m. EST), featuring Hill – the ACC Champion in the event. In his last race in the NCAA quarterfinals, Hill easily broke the school record and ran the meet’s fastest 110m hurdle time in 13.54 seconds.

All the hurdle semifinals will feature three heats with the top two student-athletes from each heat – plus the next two fastest times – advancing to the national championship race.
