CORAL GABLES, Fla.—On Sunday, May 31, the Al Golden Football Camp at the U made its Coral Gables debut and drew approximately 300 campers. It was the first of six one-day camps that comprise the Al Golden Football Camp.

“The campers did a great job competing and matching the energy and passion of the coaching staff,” said head coach Al Golden. “Our camp mission is to create an environment in which the kids are able to “Train like a Cane,” from learning drills and fundamentals from our coaches, to seeing our beautiful campus and eating in our dining facility. Overall, we hope the campers have fun and are able to take what they have learned here at camp and apply it to their skill set for their upcoming season.”

Last Sunday, campers started with a registration session, picked up their camp t-shirt, and continued to “Speed School”. Campers then took the Greentree Practice Fields and went through intense drill work. The current coaching staff, Hurricane greats and coaches from other Division I, II and III schools and high schools coached the youngsters throughout the day. Following a lunch break, campers resumed drills on the practice fields as the learning and execution continued. Following the camp session, awards were given to campers for most improved camper by position and Smokehouse Champion (fastest camper competition).

The next one-day camp will be held on Sunday, June 5. For more information or to register for one of the five remaining camps, visit algolden.com.
