Miami to Send Contingent to Tar Heels Relays

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami Track and Field Team will compete in the Dick Taylor Tar Heels Relay at Belk Track at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill, N.C. The meet is one of two last chance qualifier meets before NCAA First and Second Round (May 26-28) action that UNC will host this spring.
Three women will be competing in hurdle events on Saturday, including Ti’erra Brown. The senior won the ACC Championship in the 100m hurdles last month and is a five-time All-America selection as well as the reigning U.S. Champion in the 400m hurdles. The Hampton, Va. native will be joined by fellow senior Takecia Jameson in both hurdle events on Saturday.
Freshman Nicole Cummings will race in the high hurdles as well as the long jump.
Senior Miranda Wilson is scheduled for the hammer throw and the discus. Kyla Buckley and Ashley Holmes will throw in the shot put and discus respectively.
Charlene Fuller will race in both the 100 and 200m dashes while fellow sprinter Thandi Stewart will circle the track in the 400m dash.
Rounding out the action for the women will be high jumper Megan Novinger. The senior will look to better her season-best mark of 1.75m (5-08.75)
The Miami men’s team will feature four student-athletes and each will compete in the 4×100 relay. Bassim El-Sabawi, Brandon McGee and Lamar Miller will also race in the 100m dash while junior Devon Hill will participate in the 110m hurdles – the event in which he won an ACC title in April.
