CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Five men will travel to Philadelphia to compete for the Hurricanes at the Penn Relays – the nation’s most recognizable relay meet – this Friday and Saturday at the Univesity of Pennsylvania’s Franklin Field.

Devon Hill, winner of last weekend’s 110m hurdle ACC Championship, will compete in the same event Friday at 3:40 p.m. against a field of 35 of the top collegiate hurdlers. To advance to the Championship Final (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.), Hill must place among the top two in one of the preliminary heats or be among the next three fastest times.

The junior will also race in the 4x100m relay where he will be joined by freshman Bassim El-Sabawi and Cane football players Brandon McGee and Lamar Miller. The foursome is scheduled to compete Friday at 12:35 p.m. Of the 109 schools competing in the relay, only the top eight will advance to the Championship Final (Saturday, 1:25 p.m.) with the next best eight times advancing to the consolation College Final (Saturday, 1:20 p.m.)

The Penn Relays is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious track and field relay event.  Beginning in 1922 with the renovation of Franklin Field, the Penn Relays has hosted high schools and college track and field programs as well as amateur and professional athletes.  This year, there are over 1,200 schools that will be competing in front of a three-day audience that is expected to be over 100,000 strong.
