CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami Track and Field team will compete in its first out-of-state meet of the outdoor season when it heads to Durham, N.C. for the ACC Track and Field Championships at Duke’s Wallace Wade Stadium this Thursday through Saturday.

Senior Ti’erra Brown leads the 21st-ranked women’s team and is scheduled to appear in three events over the weekend; the 100 and 400m hurdles and the 4×400 relay.

The Hampton, Va. native was just named the ACC Performer of the Week after her victory in the 100m hurdles in 13.16 seconds. It was the first time that Brown had competed in the event nine months and currently ranks as the 12th-best collegiate time in the country.

Presently, Brown is the nation’s fourth-beat 400m hurdler after running a winning time of 56.91 seconds at the Florida Relays earlier this month. Brown has earned five All-America honors in hurdle events and is the reigning U.S. Champion in the 400m hurdles.

Scheduled to join Brown in the hurdle events is fellow senior Takecia Jameson. The Upper Marlboro, Md. native was one of an unprecedented trio (Brown and twin sister Tameka) to earn All-America honors in the 2010 400m hurdles.

Freshman Thandi Stewart, holder of the nation’s No. 19 time in the 400m hurdles at 58.26 seconds, will join the seniors in the event as well as the 4×400 relay.

Junior hurdler Devon Hill will look to expand on his recent success – All-America honors in the indoor 60m hurdles – as he competes in a full slate of events over the weekend. On Friday, he will compete in the 110 and 400m prelims and Saturday he could potentially compete in both the hurdle finals and each of the relays.

The championships will kick-off on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the heptathlon and Miami junior Rachel Dupree will be the lone Cane competing in the multi event. The 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put and the 400m dash will be run on Thursday while the heptathlon will close out with the long jump, javelin and 800m run on Friday at 10 a.m.

Miranda Wilson and Ashley Holmes will competing in Thursday’s discus at 12:30 p.m. Both women will compete in the hammer throw on Saturday, while Holmes will join teammate Kyla Buckley in the shot put, Friday at 1 p.m.

The only other Cane scheduled to compete on Thursday is senior distance runner Charles Michel. The Woodinville, Wash. native will race in the 10,000m run at 8:45 p.m. Michel will also compete in the 5,000m run Saturday evening.
