Miami versus Maryland Saturday Baseball Cancelled
April 16, 2011
COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Saturday’s Miami versus Maryland ACC baseball game has been cancelled due to heavy rain in and around the College Park area. The remaining two games of the series will be pushed to a doubleheader on Sunday, April 17, beginning at 11 a.m.
Sunday’s doubleheader will begin with the first game at 11 a.m., followed by a 30-minute intermission. The second game will begin immediately after. The Atlantic Coast Conference curfew rule for Sunday will be enforced at 5:45 p.m., where no inning can begin after that time.
Heavy rains began falling in the College Park and District of Columbia area during the morning hours on Saturday. The weather is expected to pick up its intensity through the afternoon hours, with heavy rain and winds up to 55 mph looming over the area late into the evening.
Miami took the opening game of the series Friday night on the strength of three-hit, two-RBI outings from Nathan Melendres and Rony Rodriguez. The Canes took the game, 10-4, as freshman Bryan Radziewski earned the win on the mound for UMiami, his sixth win of the campaign.
Both games will be carried live on WVUM 90.5 FM – the student voice for the University of Miami Hurricanes, and can be accessed online anywhere in the world at WVUM.org. Mike Weisman and Kyle Sielaff will have the call.
