No. 29 Miami Takes on Top-Ranked Virginia Friday

CORAL GABLES, FLA. – The29th-ranked University of Miami men’s tennis team takes on top-ranked Virginia and No. 36 Virginia Tech at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center this weekend in Atlantic Coast Conference competition.

 

The Hurricanes (9-4, 3-0) – who have won six of their last seven matches – enter Friday’s 3 p.m. match undefeated in ACC play and atop the ACC standings with the Cavaliers (18-0, 3-0) who have yet to drop a match this season.

 

Freshman Gabriel Flores (15-10) has won seven straight matches for the Hurricanes and is 3-0 in conference play, while senior Eduardo Pavia (16-8) brings a two-match win streak – including clinching Sunday’s 4-3 win over Clemson – into Friday and has won a team-high 16 singles matches.

 

Virginia has six ranked singles players – including three among the nation’s Top 25 in No. 2 Alex Domijan, No. 8 Michael Shabaz and No. 22 Sanam Singh.

 

The Hokies (10-5, 2-1) will travel to Florida State for a Friday meeting before taking on the Hurricanes on Sunday at Noon.
