Hurricanes to Play in John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team will compete in the three-round, two-day John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate at Eagle’s Landing Country Club (Par 72 – 6,047 yards) in Stockbridge, Ga. starting on Monday. This will mark the program’s fifth appearance in this event, with the team last participating in 2009.
The first two rounds are scheduled for Monday, with the final round set for Tuesday.
The tournament, hosted by Georgia State University, will feature 14 teams. In addition to the Hurricanes and the Panthers, the field will include Arkansas State, Daytona State, East Tennessee State, James Madison, Maryland, Michigan, Middle Tennessee State, Murray State, No. 21 Notre Dame, UCF, Western Carolina and Xavier.
Georgia State has won this event the last three years.
Miami is led by Maria Ronderos and her team leading 73.64 stroke average this spring. The senior is coming off a career-low round of 67 in the final round of the Eagle Landing Invitational on March 13th.
Coach Rizzo has also tabbed senior Christina Hirano, junior Patricia Arana, freshman Carina Cuculiza and junior Diana Fisher on the lineup card this week. It is the same starting five that the Hurricanes used in a tied for fourth place finish at the Eagle Landing Invitational last weekend.
Round one play will begin with a shotgun start on Monday morning at 9:00 a.m., with the second round to follow immediately.
