Hurricanes to Hold NFL Pro Day Tomorrow

CORAL GABLES, Fla.—With the NFL draft a little more than a month away,the University of Miami football program will host scouts from more than 25 NFL teams on Thursday, March 10, in the interview finale that is Pro Timing Day.

The prospects will have a chance to showcase their speed, agility and strength, recording marks in the 40-yard dash, position drills and bench press for the assembled scouts.  Additional testing includes, 60-yard shuttle, Pro-shuttle, “L” drill and vertical jump.

The annual event will be held at Greentree Practice Fields and will feature 15 University of Miami prospects, including wide receiver Leonard Hankerson. ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper has projected Hankerson to be the 28th overall pick to the New England Patriots in his latest mock draft.

Hankerson made 72 receptions for 1,156 yards in 2010 for the Hurricanes, including a UM season record 13 touchdown receptions.

Kiper also rates inside linebacker Colin McCarthy as the second-best player at this position. The Birdsboro, Pa., native led the ‘Canes with 119 tackles last season.

Other prospects that NFL scouts will have the opportunity to watch on Thursday include Allen Bailey, Damien Berry, Matt, Bosher, Jared Campbell, Graig Cooper, Orlando Franklin, Richard Gordon, Brandon Harris, Patrick Hill, Ryan Hill, Cory Nelms, Kylan Robinson and DeMarcus Van Dyke.

Van Dyke ran the fastest overall time of anybody in the 40-yard dash (4.28) in last month’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

The NFL Draft is scheduled for Apr. 28-30 in New York City.
