CORAL GABLES, FLA. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team opens the third annual ITA Kick-Off Weekend on Sat., Jan. 29, versus Arizona at 4 p.m. ET on the Texas A&M campus in College Station, Texas.
The 44th-ranked Hurricanes (1-1) are among 60 teams selected from across the country, competing in four-team fields across 15 sites. The 15 teams that win both matches at each site will be invited to compete in the ITA National Men’s Team Indoor Championship from Feb. 18-21 in Seattle, Wash.
Miami is seeded third in its field and opens competition versus 32nd-ranked and second-seeded Arizona. The winning squad faces the winner of the 1 p.m. match between top-seeded and 10th-ranked host Texas A&M and fourth-seeded and 40th-ranked Mississippi State on Sunday at 4 p.m., while the losing teams will meet in consolation play at 1 p.m.
“We are excited to compete in the ITA Kick-Off this weekend,” said head coach Mario Rincon. “We’ve had a good week of practice after our last match, and we feel like we improved in the areas we needed to. Our guys understand that both matches this weekend are crucial to our season.”
