Jan. 21, 2011

CORAL GABLES, Fla. –  Track and Field News has released its women’s U.S. rankings and three Miami Hurricanes find themselves ranked among the Top 10 in the 400m hurdles. Ti’erra Brown, Tameka Jameson and Dominique Darden are on the impressive list.

“We have had a long and successful tradition in the hurdle events, which includes Olympians at the University of Miami,” said Director of Track and Field Amy Deem. “I am confident that the current and former Hurricanes will continue this legacy this year and for many years to come.”

Brown and Jameson, both in their senior seasons, competed in the U.S.A. Track and Field Championships last summer as Brown became the first Hurricane to win an outdoor U.S. title as she circled the track in 54.85 seconds, Jameson finished fifth in 56.48 seconds.

Brown, a five-time All-America selection, garnered the No. 4 ranking in the 400m hurdles, but she also is ranked ninth in the 100m hurdles. Jameson earned a No. 8 ranking.

Darden, a U.S. champion (2009 indoor 400m dash) in her own right, is ranked ninth. The former UM great graduated from Miami in 2006 after a four-year career and did so with 15 All-America honors – the most of any Hurricane in any sport.
