Blöcker, Nieto Ready for Texas Invitational

CORAL GABLES, FLA. – Senior Christian Blöcker and junior Santiago Nieto of the University of Miami men’s tennis team will represent the Hurricanes at the Texas Invitational in Austin from Nov. 5-7.

 

Blöcker and Nieto will pair up to face Marquette’s Dan Mamalat and Jonathan Schwerin in Round of 32 doubles action on Friday at 10 a.m., with the winners advancing to Saturday’s Round of 16 at 10 a.m. The Miami duo is 1-0 this fall, defeating Florida State’s Andrew Bucaro and Owen Long, 8-2, at the UM Invitational.

 

Blocker (2-3) then opens singles competition in Friday‘s Round of 32 for the ‘Canes, taking on host Texas’ Sudanwa Sitaram at 11:15 a.m. EST, while Nieto (5-3) will follow versus Lamar’s Diego Snyder at 1 p.m.

 

Winners advance to Friday afternoon’s Round of 16, while losing student-athletes will face off in consolation play.
