Eichkorn Falls at USTA/ITA Indoor Intercollegiate Championship

FLUSHING, N.Y. – University of Miami All-America senior Bianca Eichkorn dropped her opening round match at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships to third-seeded Kristy Frilling of Notre Dame, 6-4, 6-0, Thursday afternoon at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Eichkorn and Frilling were tied 4-4 in the first set before Frilling grabbed momentum and eventually claimed the victory.
Eichkorn, who is the 14th-ranked singles player nationally, will begin singles consolation play Friday when she faces Nicole Bartnik of Columbia at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
The third-winningest student-athlete in singles play in program history, Eichkorn has tallied 106 wins in her storied career. Last season, the native of Tengen, Germany went 31-5 overall and 23-0 in dual match in singles to earn All-America honors. This fall, she is 6-3 with a first flight singles title at the Miami Fall Invitational to her credit.
