Hankerson Named National Wide Receiver of the Week
Oct. 3, 2010
CORAL GABLES, Fla.– University of Miami senior Leonard Hankerson was named National Wide Receiver of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards on Sunday.
Hankerson is coming off the best game of his career, catching seven passes for 147 yards and a career-best three touchdowns in Miami’s 30-21 win at Clemson on Saturday.
His three receiving touchdowns – which all came in the first half – was not only a personal best, but it tied a UM single game record. He became the first player to accomplish the feat since Santana Moss caught three touchdowns against Rutgers in 1998.
On the year, Hankerson has team-highs for catches (23), yards (388) and touchdowns (6). He currently ranks second in the ACC and 13th nationally with 97.0 receiving yards per game average.
Hankerson and the 13th-ranked Hurricanes will play host to rival Florida State Saturday at 8 p.m. at Sun Life Stadium.
