Men's Tennis Adds Eduardo Pavia to 2010 Recruiting Class

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Head men’s tennis coach Mario Rincon has announced that Eduardo Pavia (Carolina, Puerto Rico) is transferring to the University of Miami and will play men’s tennis for the Hurricanes.
The 2010 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, Pavia posted an 18-4 overall record and a perfect 4-0 mark in conference play at No. 1 singles en route to this third-straight First Team All-MAC honors. A three-year letterwinner at Ball State, he was also the MAC Newcomer of the Year in 2008.
The top-ranked Puerto Rican player in the Class of 2007, Pavia has represented his native country in the Davis Cup three times, going 2-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles play in 2010. In addition, he won the 2010 US Open Men’s Southern Section Qualifying Tournament and is currently competing in the Central American and Caribbean Sports Games in Mayaguez, P.R.
“We are looking forward to Eduardo joining our program this fall,” said Rincon. “Most of all, he is a great competitor, but he is also a strong leader. Eduardo will be able to contribute right away.”
