Three Hurricanes to Represent Home Nations at NACAC Championships

CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami’s Ti’erra Brown, Tameka Jameson and Deandra Doyley have been selected to participate in the 2010 North American, Central American, and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) U-23 Championships, July 9-11 at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Fla.
Brown and Jameson will both representing the United States and will be competing in the 400m hurdles, while Brown will also compete in the 100m hurdles. Doyley will represent Jamaica and participate in both the long and triple jumps.
Brown and Jameson will also be competing in the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, June 25-27 in the 400m hurdles.
Brown a five-time All-America honoree, is the third ranked American in the 400m hurdles this year with a season-best time of 54.74 seconds. Jameson is tied for seventh at 55.73 seconds. Each woman’s top-time came at the NCAA Preliminary Round held in Greensboro, N.C. in late May.
In the 400m hurdle NCAA final Brown was the runner-up for the second straight year at 55.22 seconds and Jameson placed third at 56.37 seconds.
Doyley represented the Hurricanes in the national championships as well, placing 12th in the triple jump. The Lauderdale Lakes native reached career-bests in both the long and triple jumps this season with marks of 6.30m (20-08.00) and 13.22m (43-04.50).
The championships will feature 26 nations and 462 athletes and can be viewed live online at usportstv.net as a pay-per-view service. Tickets for the event can be purchased miramarculturalcenter.org for $10 a day or $25 for all three days.
