Tameka Jameson Wins Both Hurdle Events at Georgia Invite

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Miami track and field teams sent six student-athletes to the Georgia Invitational at Spec Towns Track on Saturday. Tameka Jameson led the way with victories in both the 100 and 400m hurdles.
Jameson won both hurdle events with times of 13.61 and 58.21 seconds. It was the first attempt this season in the 100m hurdles for the Upper Marlboro, Md. and in the 400m hurdles, the junior was the only competitor to finish in under a minute – at 58.20 seconds.
Kristy Whyte and Charlene Fuller were the top two collegiate women to cross the finish line in the 100m dash, at 11.58 and 11.74 seconds respectively. Whyte was also the top collegiate runner to finish the 200m dash at 23.85 seconds. Fuller also competed in the event, finishing just three spots behind Whyte at 24.26 seconds.
Every attempt in the long jump this season has resulted in a mark of over 20 feet for senior Denadra Doyley. Saturday was no different as the Lauderdale Lakes native leapt 6.16m (20-02.50), the second-best mark of the 16 person field. Teammate Brittni Finch placed fourth in the event with a leap of 6.03m (19-09.50).
Doyley also placed second in the triple jump, reaching a mark of 12.70m (41-08.00) in her third attempt of the day. Finch leapt 11.77m (38-07.50), her best mark of the season.
Cory Nelms ran in both the 110 and 400m hurdles. He placed eighth in both events with times of 14.91 and 54.20 seconds respectively.
The Hurricanes will next compete in the Georgia Teach Invitational, May 14-15 at the Griffin Track in Atlanta. It will be the final regular season meet of the year as the NCAA Regionals start on May 27.
