Women's Golf Sits Tied for Fifth on Day One of Canes & Cardinal Classic

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – Junior Maria Ronderos turned in an eight-over par 152 after the first two rounds and the University of Miami women’s golf team sits in a tie for fifth place after day one of the 2010 Canes & Cardinal Classic at Don Shula’s Golf Resort Monday.
Miami posted a team score of 630, which tied Cincinnati for fifth. Maryland leads the tournament at 33-over par 609 followed by Kansas State (614), Florida Gulf Coast (618) and Akron (619) round out the top four.
Ronderos posted Miami’s best score of the day firing a two-over par 74 in round one before shooting six-over par 78 in the second round. She is tied for fifth place at eight-over par.
Freshman Shelby Gilbert is tied for 17th after shooting five-over par 77 and seven-over par 79. Junior Christina Hirano is tied for 25th after shooting 78 in round one and 80 in round two. Sophomore Begona Sarabia is 39th while freshman Melanie Kleiner is 49th.
The final round of the tournament is slated to tee off at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
