Shenise Johnson & Riquna Williams named Muscle Milk Student-Athletes of the Week

Sophomores Shenise Johnson and Riquna Williams have been selected as this week’s Muscle Milk Student-Athletes of the Week.    The backcourt duo led the Hurricanes women’s basketball team to two victories as the team advanced to the semifinals of the WNIT.  Entering the semifinal game at Michigan Wednesday, March 31, the squad had won four straight games in this year’s WNIT.  Prior to that run, a women’s basketball team had not won more than one post-season game in the program’s history. Against North Carolina A&T on Thursday, March 25, Williams scored 21 points hitting 5 of 7 three-point shots while Johnson finished the game with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.  Versus Providence on Sunday, the 28th Johnson had a career day with 33 points and 10 rebounds as the Hurricanes defeated the Friars 73-65.  In that game, Williams added 24 points and again was accurate from three-point range hitting on 4 of 8 attempts.
