CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami has signed Ohio prep star Latwan Anderson to a National Letter of Intent as announced Friday by Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Amy Deem.

“I am extremely excited about signing Latwan to a letter of intent. He has proven to be an exceptional track athlete and has unlimited potential for future development,” said Deem. “He will be able to come in and contribute in the sprints as well as the short and long relays.”

The 5-11 sprinter is currently ranked 12th in the nation in the indoor 55m dash with a time of 6.38 seconds. He also was the state runner-up in the outdoor 200m dash in 2009, with a time of 21.71 seconds. In addition, Anderson ran legs on the state champion 4×200 and fifth-place 4×100 relay teams.

He recently claimed victories in the 200m dash and 400m dashes, 4×200 relay, 4×400 relay and was named the High School Track MVP at the Harrison Dillard Indoor Track Championships at Baldwin-Wallace College.

Anderson also played on the Glenville football team where he starred as a defensive back. He played in the U.S. Army All-American Game in January and was a Division 1 Second Team All-State selection this past season. The senior pulled down 14 interceptions in 2009 and has been rated as high as the No. 15 overall player by national recruiting services.
