Three Hurricanes Named to All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John D. Swofford has announced that three student-athletes from the University of Miami were named to the All-ACC Academic Indoor Track and Field Team.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during their academic career.
This is the inaugural year for the All-ACC Academic Indoor Track and Field Team. In previous years, the ACC combined the indoor and outdoor seasons in forming the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
Sophomore Diego Rosado is the representative for the men’s indoor track and field team and competed in six different events during the 2009 season, including the heptathlon. The Albuquerque, N.M. native is an undeclared Arts and Sciences major and carries a GPA of 3.359.
For the women, junior Kristy Whyte, who was a two-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll, was named to academic team. The Lauderdale Lakes native competed in four events on the season and was a member of the 4×400 relay team that recorded a season-best time of 3:38.46. Whyte is an Exercise Physiology major with a GPA of 3.317.
Sophomore Megan Novinger was the Hurricanes top high jumper this season, reaching a career-high height of 1.70-meters (5-07.00) and moving her into third place in the Miami record book. The Miami native holds a 3.248 GPA and is studying Criminology.
A total of 84 student-athletes were honored on the All-ACC Academic Indoor Track and Field Teams. Eleven earned an ACC title this year and 23 claimed All-ACC honors.
