DURHAM, N.C. – University of Miami junior Kyle Bellamy earned his third first team All-America honor of the postseason as Baseball America recognized the closer as the team’s relief pitcher on its 16-man first team.

Bellamy, who recently earned first-team All-America honors by both the NCBWA and Rivals.com, is among the national leaders with 16 saves this season. In 46 1/3 innings pitched, the Davie, Fla. native allowed just five earned runs while striking out 63 and holding his opponents to a .147 batting average against him.

In a team-high 30 appearances, Bellamy (3-1, 0.97 ERA) allowed just two extra-base hits and finished a perfect 16-for-16 in save opportunities. His 16 saves are tied for fifth in school history for saves in a single season, with 12 of his 16 saves coming from more than an inning of work.

In addition to his three first team All-America honors thus far, Bellamy has been named one of five finalists for the prestigious NCBWA Stopper of the Year award as well as a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, the Dick Howser Trophy and the College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year Awards. He was also named as the closer on the 2009 All-ACC First Team.

On Wednesday, Bellamy was selected in the fifth round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Chicago White Sox.

Fourteen conferences and the independent ranks are represented on Baseball America’s three All-America teams, and 12 conferences landed multiple players on the teams, led by the Atlantic Coast Conference with 11 players. San Diego State’s Stephen Strasburg was named Baseball America’s Player of the Year.
