Ti'erra Brown National Runner-Up in 400m Hurdles

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Three Hurricanes competed for an individual national title Friday evening for the No. 13 University of Miami women’s track and field team. Sophomore Ti’erra Brown led the way with a runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles at the University of Arkansas’ McDonnell Track.
Brown and Tameka Jameson both competed in the 400-meter hurdle final after advancing through the two previous rounds. Brown ran the second-fastest time in school history with a time of 55.98 seconds, as she claimed her second USTFCCCA All-America accolade with the runner-up finish. Jameson who ran from the second lane, finished ninth with a time of 58.73 seconds.
At the 2008 championships, Brown placed eight in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.47.
For the fourth time in her career, senior Murielle Ahoure has earned the title of All-American. Her seventh place finish in the 100-meter dash ensured that honor, with a time of 11.41 seconds. The race was the first finals appearance in the 100-meter dash for the Bristow, Va. native. She competed in the semifinals in 2007.
After the third day of competition, Miami has totaled 10 points and stands in a tie for 16th place in the team standings.
Ahoure and junior Kristy Whyte will be competing in the 200-meter dash final, Saturday at 1:35 p.m. Ahoure is the reigning indoor 200-meter national champion and she will be pursuing her fifth All-American honor and second of these championships. Whyte will be appearing in her first national championship final.
Saturday is the fourth and final day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships and CBS will be providing live televised coverage of the event beginning at 1 p.m. Live results will be available along with streaming video at ncaa.com/champinships.
